Last days of Summer!

Jaxson turned 7 on July 27th. Mario and Luigi (the famous Mario bros. of Nintendo fame) was the theme. We spent the day playing "pin the mustache on Mario, ate pizza, hit the pinata Uncle Mark made to look like Mario's coveralls, ate cake, and Jaxson was excited over every present. Uncle Josh came as a big Mario to surprise him. Way to go Josh!

School's out for Summer!

And they're off! Only 4 days off from school and our boys are feeling their oats. I gave Bridgett a rest yesterday and took Jayden, Jaxson, and Addison to McDonald's, where they could play on the slide and get their wiggles out. At least they are still young enough to be satisfied with a happy meal and time to run around in a safe area. Well, sorta safe, enough germs to kill a horse, but just make sure the hands get washed before eating any french fries.
I had Jayden over to spend the night. We worked on projects and he put this plane together on his own. Way to go, Jayden!

Awards for our Boys

Both our boys, Jayden and Jaxson received awards in their respective grades. The assembly was held on the last day of school. In kindergarten, Jaxson got one for being a Good Citizen. His teacher, Ms. Xylinga, said he would come up to her many times during the school year and tell her "I just love my school, and I love you!" She said it made her feel so good, but he also was telling all the other teachers the same thing. That's our boy, always cover your bases!
And Jayden received a Writing Award. He really loves to write short stories and uses lots of imagination. Go Jayden! I see him publishing a book someday.

May is going by fast

I looked at the calendar and lo and behold,Summer is just around the corner! There have been a bunch of memorable activities this month.
We went to Jaxson and Jayden's open house at Branch Elem. where Jayden was a wax museum replica of Houdini, a project for his 3rd grade class. (note the handcuffs)
We also got to see Jaxson do his song and dance in honor of Mexico. He is quite a dancer! Here's a sneak peak:
It was a lot of fun, and I am oh, so, PROUD of them!

Birthdays everywhere!

April was a busy month with three birthdays. We started off with Tom's, celebrated with dinner and cake and ice cream. The boys made him an extra special birthday card about dragons. We had just seen "How to Train Your Dragon" in 3D. Awesome, but spendy.
Ella's birthday was extra special since it was her first one. Bridgett gave her the "throne", which she thoroughly enjoyed, her own little cake to chow down on, and lots of special attention from all the relatives. There was a bar-b-q and everything. She had lots of help from the brothers opening her presents.

Jayden's birthday is next and he opted to get a more expensive present rather than a big party. The item is a Wii game. Since he is 9 he has the option, but of course will still have friends over for a scavenger hunt and some birthday cake Sunday. There is never a dull moment around here, but April is especially exciting with all the celebrations. Hooray for Birthdays!

March happiness!

We have finally been getting some sunshine. This does a lot for my psyche as well as my flowers. In fact, my Irises are blooming and bringing color to my green flower beds. Unfortunately along with the rain we had came many weeds, but at least lots of them have pretty yellow flowers.

Addison turned 4 on the 16th and has his party on Sunday the 21st. A sports theme has been requested and his Mommy is fast at work to comply. I heard something about a football cake...hmmm. The day before he has his first T-Ball game as an Astro. The opposing team's name is the White Sox. Go Astros! If practice is any indication, Addison will be a heavy hitter. Go Addison!

Some rain, some sun

In my life it seems there is a little of both. I am knee deep in income tax prepping, (rain) and have learned how to make "yo-yo's." (sun) On my Creativity blog, check out what those are. I am also proud to say Jayden's team made it to the basketball tournament for his age group. Last nite they won their game and go onto play on Saturday. Go Jayden! His team sponsor is Oceano Packing. No, it is not a street gang! No they are not "packing." Just kidding. Local humor.
Next up will be Addison, at 4yrs old will be playing "T" ball. He is soooo ready for sports. Now if I can just get him to stop calling his brother pee pee head, I'll be happy. Ella is slobbering her way to some new teeth, Jaxson has mastered his DS player, loves Mario, and never forgets to hug me and tell me he loves me. Sounds like I have more sun than rain. Right on!

Life as I know it

My life has been rather hectic for the first month of the year. After a 2 week stay in Albuquerque, I am back with the living. I say that because so much of that visit involved illness, oldness, sadness. My sweet baby sis is going through hell right now after the diagnosis of her husband of 30 years. Another body being ravaged by the beast called cancer. It is a formidable enemy, this beast, that haunts you awake and asleep. But, this blog is supposed to be about more pleasant things. I shall try to find some when next I write. Meanwhile, my father is on the brink of death, at age 93 has seen so much sorrow and pain. I hope the next life has a few rainbows and beautiful sunsets. Come to think of it, this life has some of those. It just doesn't seem that way to me right now. I insist on finding some to cheer us up. Can that be arranged?

A new year---2010

My new year's resolution...THINK. As in think before I act. I'm hoping this will free me up for what is important to me, such as my grandkids!
Yes, I have a life, and it's intertwined with my daughter and her children and husband. My own family of origin have branched off to include their grandchildren and each family is doing the same thing we are; taking care of each others needs, supporting their dreams, helping them with day to day activities such as basketball, soccer, school projects, goals for higher education. I am a part of the wide scheme of things, but most importantly I am in the mainstream of their lives. I like it that way, I love being accountable and part of their present and future. The music to my ears is "I love you, MaMa." My cup is full.
